Dr. H. Dan Adams was born, raised and schooled in Massachusetts. He received his BA from Yale University ('61), MD from Harvard Medical School ('65), and his MBA from Washington University in St. Louis ('02). His medical training to become a heart surgeon was done in Boston, Philadelphia, Houston, Dallas and London, England. Dr. Adams did a two-year stint of active duty in the U.S. Navy and five additional years in the U.S. Navy Reserve. His first job was creating a heart surgery program in Missoula, Montana by himself in 1975. He came to Evansville in 1982 and has loved living here ever since, becoming a true "naturalized Hoosier". Injuring his leg, he retired from active medical practice in 1999 and became involved in local politics to give back to the wonderful Evansville community that has been so good to him for all these years. Dr. Adams was elected as an Evansville City Councilman At-Large in the Fall of 2007.
Dr. Adams belongs to the American College of Surgeons, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, The Vanderburgh Medical Society and The American College of Physician Executives. He has served on the Evansville/Vanderburgh Regional Airport Board, the Evansville Port Authority, Northside Kiwanis Foundation Board and the AHEC Forming Committee. Dr. Adams was an ISMA 2005 Physician Community Service Award Nominee. He has substitute taught in the Evansville High School System, volunteered at The Boys & Girls Club, worked as a Boy Scout merit badge instructor, and has lectured at the University of Evansville, University of Southern Indiana, and IU Medical School - Evansville as an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Surgery.
Dr. Adams has two grown children. His hobbies are fly fishing, hunting, tennis, travel and watching soccer/ice hockey/lacrosse. Dr. Adams enjoys helping others by problem solving as well as mentoring young people.
