Administrative Services Centralized services for City offices including Personnel, Labor Relations, Affirmative Action, Safety, Payroll, and Benefits.	Levee Authority Provides flood protection within the area of the Levee project from the Ohio River and a portion of Pigeon Creek.

Metropolitan Evansville Transit Systems (METS) Provide public transit for the City of Evansville.	Mesker Park Zoo Provides and operates a public zoo with recreation, education and conservation opportunities.

City Cemeteries Locust Hill and Oak Hill Cemetaries	Metropolitan Development (DMD) Economic development and community planning programs, historical preservation, and code enforcement.

City Engineer Maintenance of all traffic signs, markings and signals to provide smooth traffic flow in Evansville and Vanderburgh County.	Parks & Recreation Department To improve the quality of life for all citizens through creative and meaningful leisure opportunities (excludes the maintenance and operation of Burdette Park).

Controller Fiscal officer of City. Issues warrants, manages and invests cash, budgets and collects revenue.	Police Department Protects the citizens of Evansville and provides emergency services.

Department of Sustainability, Energy and Environmental Quality
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Provides plans and programs for the protection of environmental quality, inspection for compliance and issuance of special permits.	Street Maintenance Ensures that the street system in the City of Evansville is properly maintained

Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Develop transportation plans for highway and transit improvements, traffic engineering studies and approval of applications for Federal funds.	Fire Department Provides fire protection, suppression and inspection to prevent the loss of life or property.

Transportation & Services Responsible for maintaining and enhancing the transportation infrastructure and public services of the City of Evansville.	Urban Forestry Established in June of 2001, this department duties include enforcement of tree ordinance, hazardous tree and tree limb removal, removal of tree debris created by storms, and many more.

Sewer Utility Operates and maintains wastewater treatment plants, lift stations and overflow structures, purification of wastewater.	Water Utility Operates and maintains the water treatment plant, pump stations and distribution system.

Joint City Departments
Traffic Engineering Performs all maintenance of traffic signs, creates and maintains street markings on accepted roads and streets within Vanderburgh County.	Central Dispatch Receives emergency telephone calls for assistance in relation to Fire, Police and Sheriff calls and dispatches proper equipment.

Animal Control Dedicated to promoting citizen safety, animal rescue, promotion of responsible pet ownership and the reduction of animal overpopulation.	Human Relations Commission Investigates discrimination complaints in the areas of employment, housing, public accommodations and education.

Chief Information Officer (CIO)	Purchasing Fiscal officer of City. Issues warrants, manages and invests cash, budgets and collects revenue.

Computer Services Manges the mainframe environment for the City and County and the platforms supporting the Executive, Adminstrative, Fiscal, and Judicial functions of City and County government.	Solid Waste Management

Emergency Management Agency (EMA) City-County - Coordinates in the event of emergencies and disasters.	Building Commission Performs housing inspections in relation to minimum housing standards.

Joint County Departments

Area Plan Commission
Planning to ensure efficient and effective growth and development for Evansville and Vanderburgh County by means of zoning permits.

Weights & Measures
Enforces laws pertaining to weights and measures and supervision of weighing and measuring devices and commodities.

Legal Aid Society
Provides legal assistance to low income families in family and civil matters.
